Felidae REBELS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why did you scrap your prologue,"Felidius"?
A: It gave too much information about things that were meant to be a mystery to a reader. I was to repeat most of the events in the prologue in Felidae REBELS anyway. It also cuts to the chase and allows me to start working on the main events.

Q: Isn't "Sorcha" a girl's name? Why'd you pick it for one of the leading male characters?
A:  "Sorcha" is indeed a girl's name. The name has an Irish origin and it means "bright". When I was naming my characters, I saw someone having a cat named "Sorcha", and it stuck. The only reason it is considered a feminine name [while "Simba", a name that I consider to have the same rhythm of pronunciation (both have the same syllables, an "s" to start, and a "ah" to end), be a boy's name and not female]  is because it is the Irish form of the name "Sarah". "Sorcha" was commonly pronounced "Sur-a-ka" in the Middle Ages, but recently, Americans began pronouncing it as "Sohr-chah". The American pronunciation of the name sounds more masculine than its original Irish pronunciation.

Q: How are the cats able to do things such as put on jewelry?
A: I know it's a stretch to assume people will know this off the bat, but they're technically not cats. Because of this, their "paws" could also function like hands, with opposable thumbs. They often walk on all fours, but they can occasionally walk and stand on their hind legs.

Q: Why do the Felidaen have "hair"?
A: The Felidaen have hair similar to humans on their heads. This is solely for the artistic style and how the species are, but the Desert Felidaen's "hair" do have a function. Their mane-like hair is to protect their eyes, head, and neck from the harsh sun.

Q: Do Felidaen normally have elemental powers?
A: No. Only the fifteen elementals have this awesome power. There are five elements, and three Felidaen per element. There's Fire, Life, Water, Wind, and Lightning. The three elementals per element have similar powers, but unique from each other. For example, Sorcha, Soraya, and Manni are all of the Wind element. However, Sorcha has the strength of wind, Soraya has the agility of the wind, and Manni has the speed of wind. Despite this, they all are very swift with their abilities, as the wind.

Q: What happened to your comic?
A: Unfortunately, school has forced me to just leave my collections of story ideas as text in a story. Occasionally, I will pencil out some comic-strips of some parts of the story when I have time.
